An Art Deco twin pedestal partners desk by Maple & Co. Burr and figured walnut veneered all round with four graduating drawers to front and two cabinet sections to back. Both upper drawers with Maple and Co label. Original walnut handles and original leather scriver.

Maple & Co. stands as one of the most prominent names in the history of British furniture manufacturing and design. Originally established in 1841 by John Maple, the firm evolved from a modest shop on London's Tottenham Court Road into a massive global retail empire driven by his son, Sir John Blundell Maple.
By the late Victorian era, the company operated the largest furniture emporium in the world, catering directly to royalty, high society, and international diplomats. They held an official Royal Warrant to Queen Victoria and supplied bespoke interiors for grand residences across the globe—ranging from European palaces to prominent ocean liners like the Queen Mary.
While celebrated for their traditional high-end upholstery, the firm successfully embraced changing tastes during the Art Deco era of the 1920s and 1930s. During this time, they produced highly prized, geometric furniture including cocktail cabinets and bedroom suites crafted from luxurious woods like burr walnut and bird's eye maple.
Though economic shifts and post-war challenges eventually brought about the company's closure in 1997, stamped Maple & Co. pieces remain highly sought after by collectors today for their exceptional engineering and design variety.
